DESCRIPTION
The SerialComm CON-485/422-REP is a high-performance, rugged, industrial-grade RS485 to RS422 converter, RS422 to RS485 converter, RS232 to RS485/R422 converter as well as a RS485 repeater and a RS422 repeater. This unit is bi-directional and has a RS485/RS422 transmission distance of up to 6000ft (1.8km). It is externally powered, utilizing either 9V DC, 12V DC or the included 100V to 240V AC adapter. We also offer optional heavy-duty Meanwell power supplies. The RS422 to RS485 converter is plug-n-play, featuring a built-in data direction auto-turnaround hardware automatically managing the RS485/RS422 data transmission eliminating the need for software drivers. The CON-485/422-REP is an effective solution for protecting RS232, RS485 and RS422 devices from voltage surges, lightning strikes, ground loops and signal noise issues. It has a DB9 female connector on the RS232 side and built-in terminal blocks for the two RS485/RS422 connectors. The CON-485/422-REP has flanges for panel mount and optional DIN Rail adapters which connect to the flanges. This converter operates from 0 to 115,200 baud.

CON-485/422-REP Dimensions


Using one CON-485/422-REP unit:
Check that all connections comply with the connection diagrams. Perform a loop back test on one unit: Connect the T+ to R+ and T- to R- on the RS485/RS422 port. Connect the RS232 port to the PC RS232 port. Running a hyper terminal program on the PC, send ASCII characters to the CON-485/422-REP converter from one PC port, and check that the characters are received at the same PC port. This tests that the transmit and receive functions of the CON-485/422-REP unit is working properly.
Using two CON-485/422-REP units:
Check that all connections comply with the connection diagrams. Perform a loop back test on one unit: Connect the two RS485 or RS422 ports. Connect the two RS232 ports to two PC RS232 ports.Running hyper terminal programs on both PCs, send ASCII characters to the CON-485/422-REP converter from one PC port, and check that the characters are received at the 2nd PC port. Repeat the test in the opposite direction. This tests that the transmit and receive functions of both CON-485/422-REP units are working properly.
