The CVT-232A-3 is a port powered optically isolated RS232 isolator, which effectively protects your RS232 devices from transient surges, ground loop, and remote lightning. Optical isolation also eliminates ground loop and noise problems. The isolator is powered from the RS232 data line, and therefore, no external power or RTS, DTR is required.
