The SerialComm ISO-232-3P9 is a high quality economical bi-directional port powered 5000V optically isolated RS232C port isolator in a 9 pin format. It can optically isolate any standard full duplex RS232C port. The ISO-232-3P9 optically isolates the 3 lines: TX, RX, and GND which effectively protects your RS232 devices from transient voltage spikes, lightning strikes, ground loops, and noise problems. The unit is powered from the RS232 data lines. Therefore, no external power or flow control is required. The ISO-232-3P9 has a DB9 female connector on one RS232 side and a DB9 male connector on the other RS232 side.

TROUBLESHOOTING INSTRUCTIONS

 

Perform loop back test on one ISO-233-3P9 converter. Connect the female DB9 to the serial port of a PC. Tie signals TX to RX on the male DB9 connector.  Using HyperTerminal send a character and see if it echoes back. This will test both transmit and receive function..
