DESCRIPTION
The SerialComm CON-422-PE25 is a very high quality and reliable bi-directional port-powered RS232 to RS422 converter which converts full-duplex RS232 to a full-duplex four-wire RS422 in a 25 pin format. The converter can extend the distance of the RS232 for up to 4000 ft (1.2km). This converter is ideal for any demanding application whether indoor in a lab, server room, office, at home or outdoors within the temperature range of -4ºF to 140ºF (-20ºC to 60ºC). The converter is port-powered and derives power by amplifying the RS232 data lines requiring no external power at all. This converter features auto sensing data turnaround eliminating the need for software drivers or handshake flow control. This device is truly plug-and-play and simple enough for the novice. The CON-422-PE25 has a DB9 female connector on the RS232 end, and DB9 male connector on the RS422 end

Using one CON-422-PE25 unit:
Check that all connections comply with the connection diagrams. Perform a loop back test on one unit: Connect the TX+ to RX+ and TX- to RX- on the RS422 port. Connect the RS232 port to the PC RS232 port. Running a hyper terminal program on the PC, send ASCII characters to the CON-422-PE25 converter from one PC port, and check that the characters are received at the same PC port. This tests that the transmit and receive functions of the CON-422-PE25 unit is working properly.
Using two CON-422-PE25 units:
Check that all connections comply with the connection diagrams. Perform a loop back test on two units: Connect the two RS422 ports. Connect the two RS232 ports to two PC RS232 ports. Running hyper terminal programs on both PCs, send ASCII characters to the CON-422-PIE converter from one PC port, and check that the characters are received at the 2nd PC port. Repeat the test in the opposite direction. This tests that the transmit and receive functions of both CON-422-PE25 units are working properly.
